Susan Icove’s work is an assemblage of piles of broken appliances, odd family heirlooms with forgotten uses, and odds and ends left over from projects. These useless objects fill our attics, garages and basements, but we can’t bear to get rid of them. Susan has an innovative solution to this problem. Susan creates unique and personal lighting situations. Her lamps reincorporate found and recycled objects into our homes in unexpected ways. Susan feels that lighting is one of the foundations of the atmosphere in our lives. She is interested in the visual effect created by assembling unexpected parts. In her work, Susan draws on her love of combining elements of the past with the world of the present. Her creations give new life to objects that time has rendered useless.
Susan's work is available at Troika Contemporary Crafts in the heart of downtown Floyd, Virginia. Feel free to contact her for any custom orders.
